Fundraising has come a long way since the days of hitting the pavement with dollar candy bars and antiquated coupon books. In today’s fast-paced, tech-enabled world, youth sports, clubs, and schools can raise serious money with less hassle and more impact. But as with any game plan, success depends on strategy, timing, and execution.

We spoke with a veteran high school football coach, Jason MacManus, who’s helped lead top-tier fundraising efforts through smart planning, team buy-in, and motivational ideas that inspire success.

Want to channel Coach Jason’s success for your club or team?

Here are his five plays for real-world success on and off the field.

Map out your calendar early, align fundraising with the season’s energy peaks, ie, for football and other fall sports/activities that start with the school year, and avoid times when families are busier than usual, like the beginning of summer break. The more organized you are, the more you'll raise.

“The best coaches are planners. Our calendar is 90% done by December, giving us the rest of the year for fundraising.”

Fundraising can be an exciting part of your team’s success. With the right preparation, transparency, and structure, fundraising is more than just raising dollars. It’s about empowering your team to work together and see how they can create an impact on and off the field.

There’s nothing quite like that new gear smell! Whether it’s new uniforms or equipment, help your team experience firsthand how fundraising can raise team morale while bringing joy one bag at a time.
