$17,000 Win: Tigers Knock Fundraising Out of the Park

The La Grange Tigers are a 100% volunteer-run baseball team made up of dedicated parents and talented kids. As a “Travel Lite” team, they give players the chance to compete in high-level tournaments—without the time or cost commitment of full-time travel ball. Kids stay active in their local Little League while enjoying 20–30 extra games each season.

To keep costs low, the Tigers turned to Double Good’s online fundraising solution—and it was a home run.

What started with a few skeptical parents quickly turned into a friendly competition, with dads trading jabs in a group chat as the numbers climbed. The four-day event was so successful, the team canceled all other planned fundraisers for the season.

Thanks to the funds raised, the Tigers covered tournament fees, field rentals, new equipment—and even surprised the kids with new jerseys for their Mother’s Day tournament.

Incentives played a big role in the success. “We offered awesome prizes—gift cards, gear, top-quality batting gloves—and the kids were all in,” said Coach Peter. To spread the word to their neighborhoods, some players even created flyers with QR codes that allowed supporters to order a variety of Double Good popcorn via the code instead of the virtual link to help the team’s fundraising efforts.

With a user-friendly app, 50% of each sale going back to the team, and strong community support, the fundraiser was a huge win. “Easiest fundraiser ever,” added Coach Vinay. “We’ll definitely be back next year.”

The La Grange Tigers are proof that with heart, teamwork, and a little creativity, amazing things can happen.
