Double Good Days 2023: A Day of Joy and Inclusivity

From the outset, the Double Good Kids Foundation’s mission has been clear: to tilt the playing field for children with special needs, ensuring they have the same opportunities for athletic, educational, and extracurricular activities as their peers. On October 1st, Double Good Days became the embodiment of that mission, a momentous event where barriers vanished and possibilities flourished. Hundreds of children with special needs, along with their families and caregivers, came together at the Kohl Children’s Museum for a day filled with joy and purpose.

Partnering with the museum was key to the event’s success. Their commitment to creating learning experiences through the power of play aligns perfectly with the Foundation’s goals. But it didn’t stop there – a carefully curated list of like-minded organizations joined forces to ensure Double Good Days would be unforgettable. Inside and out, the museum campus became a world of wonder for all attendees. Glass art, miniature therapy horses, adaptive sports, slime stations, and much more awaited our guests, promising a day of fun and learning. Every activity was designed with inclusivity in mind, making sure that every child could participate and thrive.

The journey leading up to this day was marked by anticipation. Registration for morning and afternoon sessions opened on August 28th. The event was open to all, and it was free of charge so that no one would miss out on the magic of Double Good Days. In a matter of weeks, both sessions filled up completely. It was a day to celebrate differences, foster connections, and empower children with special needs to unleash their true selves. But it was more than an event; it was a testament to the power of collective effort and unwavering dedication. It was a day when children were invited to discover their limitless potential and families came together in support and unity. It was a day of joy, laughter, and inspiration.

As we look back on Double Good Days 2023, we see a tapestry of smiles, evidence of the indomitable spirit of children and the boundless love of their families, when obstacles faded into the background and allowed every child to shine brightly.

Thank you to all the volunteers, the Kohl Children’s Museum, and all the partners and supporters who made this day possible. Double Good Days was certainly a day to remember and that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who attended.
